TEACHER INTERNSHIPS FOR FOURTH YEAR EDUCATION

OFFERING TEACHER INTERNSHIPS FOR FOURTH YEAR EDUCATION DISTANCE LEARNING STUDENTS (EE only)

Join us on a journey towards excellence!

Are you studying education via a distance university? Are you in your fourth year of your studies in 2020? Do you want to become a teacher who will make a meaningful difference? Are you motivated, adaptable and resilient? Then we would love to hear from you!

More than twenty years after democracy, high performing schools in impoverished South African communities are the exception. Our aim is to change this landscape and support no-fee public schools in their journey to become excellent.

At Acorn Education we pride ourselves on capacitating and developing school and classroom leaders.  When professional development is done right, teachers feel enthused and learners in our classes achieve more.  We are currently recruiting for Teacher Internships for our schools.

So, what is a Teacher Intern? A Teacher Intern is a fourth year distance learning education student working in an Acorn Education school four days a week. The position is school based and Teacher Interns are assigned to specific classes with a Mentor Teacher. Teacher Interns are required to support their Mentor Teacher in the lesson planning, preparation and actual delivery of the lessons. Together with your fellow Teacher Interns and under the direction of the Mentor Teacher, you will support teachers to close the achievement gap of our learners. Together with your Mentor Teacher, you will focus on implementing practical strategies for engaging learners and improving their learning. All Teacher Interns will receive ongoing professional development, mentoring and instructional coaching in this role. Teacher Interns will be required to dedicate one full day per week to their studies and support will be provided by the Programme Manager where reasonably possible.

At the end of the internship programme and once qualified and having met employment requirements, you will have the opportunity to interview and possibly be employed as an educator in our affiliated no-fee schools.

Non-bursary holding Teacher Interns’ 2020 student fees for the fourth year (April – December 2020) will be covered by this programme and all Teacher Interns will receive a monthly stipend during their internship to cover travel costs etc.

At Acorn Education, we aim to transform the lives of our learners and we do whatever it takes to make this dream a reality.
